Parks Victoria - Mental Health Conversations

With around 1100 employees spread across Victoria, Parks Victoria was not only juggling the complexities of the 2020 fires but also hit hard by COVID (like the rest us). Its People & Culture department needed cohesion to help lead their valuable team, and they needed it fast.

How We Solved It

Complimenting Park Victoria’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Strategy, Serious Woo designed and implemented a series of Courageous Conversation Workshops and Conversation Labs aimed to harmonise processes and build confidence around difficult workplace conversations. Partnering with Inclusion @ Work, we were able to upskill the Parks Victoria People & Culture department around setting healthier boundaries, understanding different communication styles, getting hard messages across (without making it personal), and tackling taboo topics head-on. Colliding theory with true-to-life training, practicing scenarios with corporate actors and specialised facilitators played a key role in ensuring the interactive workshops were a success, with managers walking away feeling empowered to perform and communicate at their best.
